Oregon OSHA Welcomes 108th SHARP Participant

Oregon OSHA (OR-OSHA) welcomed the latest employer to its Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP) ranks on Feb. 6. Evanite Fiber Corporation is the 108th employer statewide to participate, the agency said.

SHARP provides incentives for employers to work with their employees to find and correct hazards, implement effective safety and health programs, continuously improve, and become self-sufficient in managing safety and health issues. "I notice more discipline in how we administer safety since we began the SHARP process," said Frank Trombetta, president of Evanite Fiber. "Once we began working with Oregon OSHA to complete SHARP certification, I have seen a greater intensity in achieving what we all want: zero injuries to employees."

Evanite Fiber produces glass microfiber products. During the three years leading to its SHARP designation, the company maintained an average for lost-time workplace injuries and illness that was one-third lower than the statewide average for glass wool manufacturers. The company has 140 employees.
